Every woman at the clinic was nursing a baby. I was aghast--this was the hardest scene for me to bear. If a baby was fortunate enough to escape HIV transmission at birth, it was now at risk of receiving it through its mother's milk. But there is no alternative to breastfeeding. Was this a nightmare?
